There’s no doubt, Bishop Amat has enough talent coming back to find its way into many preseason national rankings. Today, USA Today High School Sports’ Jim Halley profiled the Lancers and all their offensive firepower in the website’s Way Too Early Super 25 Contenders.
Head coach Steve Hagerty knows that all of the publicity will put a big spotlight on his team. That may be why last night he took to Twitter with a motivating tweet about practice.
Great practice today. Real edgy and intense! Saw glimpses of what we could be. Moving in the right direction… pic.twitter.com/H2OhWpgLAC

With two top notch quarterbacks — Ryder Ruiz and Damian Garcia — tossing to top-level D-1 receivers Trevon Sidney (USC verbal commit) and Tyler Vaughns, the Lancers won’t have trouble scoring points this year and possibly go farther than last year’s trip to the CIF-Southern Section PAC-5 semifinals where Amat lost to Corona Centennial, another SoCal power that is getting plenty preseason Top 25 attention.
High School Football America will release its National Top 25 on August 1st and it’s High School Football America/SoCal Top 25 on August 15th. Don’t be surprised to find the Lancers in both polls.
