It’s championship time in California. The California Interscholastic Federation has announced dates, times and locations for the 15 CIF State Football Championship Bowl Games that will be played this weekend. All 15 games will be played at one of three host venues; El Camino College (Torrance), Pasadena City College, and Saddleback College (Mission Viejo).

For the sixth time in seven years, the Open Division championship will have a hand in deciding the High School Football America national championship.

No. 1 Mater Dei will play No. 25 Serra (San Mateo) Saturday night at Saddleback College. If the Monarchs win, they’ll wrap-up their fourth national crown. They also won the national championship in 2017, 2018 and 2021.

Serra is playing in its third straight Open Division championship game. The Padres lost to Mater Dei in the 2021 title game 44-7. Last year, national champ St. John Bosco beat Serra 45-0.
