Timpson capped a perfect 16-0 season Wednesday night with a 49-7 win over Tolar to win the University Interscholastic League’s Class 2A Division I state championship at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.
Texas A&M-recruit Terry Bussey had a record-setting game with 311 yards passing with four touchdowns and 155 yards on the ground with two scores.
Bussey’s first championship game record came in the first quarter when he and Dacorian Johnson connected on a 90-yard touchdown pass, the longest in UIL championship game history in any classification.
In the second quarter, Bussey set the 2A Division I record for the longest touchdown run when he raced 93-yards. The performance led to Bussey, the 2022 Texas Mr. Football Player of the Year, being named the game’s Offensive MVP.
