Good Counsel’s outstanding run to its second Washington Catholic Athletic Conference Capital championship puts the Falcons at the top of the final 2023 High School Football America Maryland Top 10, powered by NFL Play Football. GC ripped-off ten straight wins after a season-opening loss to Ohio-power St. Edward.
Along the way to the WCAC regular season and postseason titles, Good Counsel beat arch-rival DeMatha twice.
DeMatha finishes No. 2 in the state, followed by St. Frances Academy at No. 3 and Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association Class A champ Archbishop Spaulding at No. 4.
McDonogh rounds-out the Top 5 at No. 5, followed by MIAA Class B champ Concordia Prep at No. 6, Loyola Blakefield at No. 7, Mount St. Joseph at No. 8, 4A champ Wise at No. 9 and Bishop McNamara at No. 10.
The top four teams in the state finished highly-ranked in our national Top 300. Good Counsel finished the season ranked No. 14. DeMatha finished No. 44 in the country. SFA was No. 51 in Top 300. Spalding finished No. 74.
