The first week of the 2022 season started with most of the favorites opening with wins.

Top-ranked St. Edward received a scare before leaving the field with a 23-20 win over No. 12 Toledo Central Catholic. This week, the Eagles will face Pennsylvania-power Pittsburgh Central Catholic, ranked No. 159 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.

In other intra-Top 25 games:

No. 2 Archbishop Moeller opened with a 49-31 win over Preseason No. 6 Massillon Washington.

No. 4 Lakota West opened with an impressive win inside our Ohio Top 25. The Firebirds trailed No. 10 St. Xavier 13-0 before scoring 16 unanswered points in the second half in a 16-13 win.

Walsh Jesuit moves up two spots to No. 18 after beating Benedictine 21-14. The Bengals, who play Toledo CC this week, drop two spots to No. 20 in the latest rankings.

New Albany also moves two spots from the preseason rankings after shutting-out Preseason No. 19 Marysville 35-0.

New to the Top 25 this week is Centerville at No. 24.
