After 301 career wins, longtime New Jersey high school football coach Chuck Johnson retires

Ridgewood’s Chuck Johnson is retiring. Johnson, who has been battling health issues since 2019, took over at his alma mater in 1984.

Under Johnson, Ridgewood won six sectional titles and the 2019 North regional championship.

After missing part of the 2019 season and all of 2020, Last season, Johnson served as the program’s co-head coach with Torre Watson.

Last season, Johnson was named the New York Giants Lou Rettino High School Coach of the Week for Week 9 after he won his 300th career game. He heads into retirement with 301 career victories.
