The Alabama High School Athletic Association has announced that Birmingham and Mobile will share the Super 7 high school football championships over the next four years.
The state governing body needed to rework the venues for its high school football championships after Alabama and Auburn announced In June that they were dropping out of their deals to host the Super 7 every three years, because of the expansion of the College Football Playoffs to twelve teams. In 2021, the AHSAA entered into a 12-year, three-city rotation for the Super 7 with Birmingham being the third city.
Birmingham will host the 2025 and 2027 Super 7’s at Protective Stadium. Mobile will host the 2026 and 2028 championships at Hancock Whitney Stadium.
Montgomery (Alabama State’s ASU Stadium and Troy (Troy University’s Veteran’s Memorial Stadium) also submitted host bids.
