Central-Clay won its second straight 5A Alabama high school football championship with a 31-27 victory over Pleasant Grove.

Pleasant Grove almost pulled it out at the end, but the Central-Clay defense stopped quarterback Zyquez Perryman at the 1.

It’s Central-Clay’s eighth overall Alabama high school football championship.

UMS-Wright made it one better than Central-Clay, picking-up a three-peat with a 28-17 win over Jacksonville in the Class 4A state championship at Auburn’s Jordan-Hare Stadium.

In 3A, Piedmont beat Mobile Christian 26-24. Jakari Foster hauled in a 27-yard touchdown pass with :35 seconds to go for the game-winner.

Fyffe became a back-to-back 2A champ with a 56-7 victory.

Lannett is the 2019 1A state champ after a 41-30 over defending state champ Mars Hill Bible.
