The Alaska Schools Activities Association will not be holding state championships for all Fall sports, including high school football this year, because of the continuing coronavirus pandemic. The ASAA made the decision on Tuesday, just a few days away from the start of the playoffs in Divisions I and II. The Division III playoffs began last weekend with the state semifinals to be played this weekend.

In making the announcement, the ASAA stated that while the state championships are being canceled, teams can continue to play games within their regions. Division I and II teams can play through October 30, while Division III teams can play games through October 24.
