Alaska Division III high school football playoffs begin

While many thought that there would never be a postseason in Alaska, it all got started this weekend with the Division III quarterfinals.

Houston advanced to next week’s semifinals with a 36-6 win over Nikiski. In the other quarterfinal, Redington beat Vladez 46-19.

Next week, Houston will face defending state champ Monroe for the right to go to the state championship the following week. In the other semi, Redington will play Homer.
