Alaska high school sports, including football, will be returning on June 1. Below is the statement on the Alaska School Activities Association that will re-open sports from the coronavirus pandemic.

ASAA Out of Season and Open Facilities Policies to Resume on June 1, 2020

The ASAA “out of season” contact and “open facility” policies typically do allow for coaches to work with students year around on a limited bases for purposes of conditioning and individual instruction. Typically, the “out of season” contact restrictions are suspended each year from May 20 to July 31. As ASAA wants to bring these policies into alignment with both Local and State of Alaska Health Mandates, THIS IS NO LONGER THE CASE. For the Spring of 2020 this policy will go into effect on June 1, 2020. However, coaches must have the approval of their school district and operate any activities in accordance with all local and state health mandates. Also, both the Out of Season and Open Facility policies have been amended. The updated policies can be found at the following link with the major changes shown in red:
