While Anchorage high school football teams are sidelined due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 high school football season began in Fairbanks and the Mat-Su Valley region with five games this weekend.

Defending Division III champ Houston got off to a rough start with a 33-0 loss to Wasilla.

Colony beat Palmer 49-0 behind an impressive ground game. The Knights rushed for 234 yards, averaging more than seven yards on every carry. Aiden Ehmann led the team with 53-yards and touchdowns, one rushing and one receiving. Ehmann had 112 yards in total offense.

Lathrop blew-out West Valley 57-0. Quarterback Jarren Littell led the way with four touchdown passes.

Homer opened the season with a 48-8 win over Seward.

On Monday, North Pole shutout Eielson 34-0 in the annual Blood Bowl.
