For the first time this year, there’s a new No. 1 in the High School Football America Alaska Top 5 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
Dimond moves from No. 2 to No. 1 after Lathrop beat No. 1 Soldotna 35-28. The loss drops the Stars to No. 5 in our latest rankings created with our proprietary algorithm.
The home loss for Soldotna was its fourth in 18-years under head coach Galen Brantley, Jr.
Dimond finishes the regular season a perfect 8-0. It’s the first time since 2000 that the Lynx finish the regular season with an unblemished record. The Lynx finished 2000 as the state Large Schools state champ with a perfect 11-0 record.
West moves to No. 2 after closing out the regular season with a 28-20 win over Bartlett.
Bettye Davis East was surprised 34-18 by unranked South, dropping the Thunderbirds from No. 2 to No. 3.
Division I and III teams now head into the postseason. Division II will close-out the regular season this weekend.
