Aledo and Atascocita pick-up big wins to climb in latest HSFA Texas Top 25

Aledo’s last second 48-45 win over Denton Guyer moves the Bearcats from No. 8 to No. 6 in the latest High School Football America Texas Top 25 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. Aledo junior kicker Cole Crawford nailed a 21-yard field goal as time expired to drop Guyer from No. 5 to No. 7.

Atascocita moves five spots to No. 8 after beating former No. 6 Katy 42-34. The win was the first for the Eagles against Katy in six tries.

This week, Atascocita, ranked No. 51 in the HSFA 300 national rankings, will play East St. Louis (Illinois), ranked No. 35 nationally.

There are a couple of head-to-head matchups in the Top 25 this week that will shape next week’s rankings that are created with our proprietary algorithm

In a battle of defending state champs, No. 3 DeSoto will take-on No. 10 South Oak Cliff. It will be the second game against a reigning champ. SOC opened the season with a 34-13 loss to top-ranked Duncanville, the state’s reigning 6A Division champ.

No. 2 North Shore will square-off with No. 23 Westfield Friday. Westfield 13 spots this week after dropping a 14-9 decision to Fort Bend Hightower, which makes its first-ever appearance in our Top 25 at No. 22.

In addition to Hightower, Highland Park (No. 15) and Melissa (No. 24) enter this week’s statewide rankings.
