Top-ranked Mater Dei improved to 3-0 with a 42-0 shutout of La Mirada Friday night with junior quarterback J.T. Daniels completing 13-of-15 passes for 248 yards and three touchdowns. Next Saturday, the Monarchs will be tested by New Jersey-power Bergen Catholic, currently ranked No. 13 in the High School Football America Top 100.

St. John Bosco, ranked No. 2 in the High School Football America Southern California Top 25, knocked-off No. 6 Chaminade 31-17. Iowa State-bound Re-Al Mitchell completed 19 of 29 passes for 239 yards and a touchdown, plus he ran for 69 yards.

No. 3 Corona Centennial rebound from its loss to national-power IMG Academy (Florida) last week.  Friday night, the Huskies blasted Etiwanda 73-0.  Centennial used third-string quarterback Arturo Herrera in the win.  Herrera entered the IMG game after injuries to Elite 11 QB Tanner McKee and back-up Ala Mikaele.  McKee’s injured ankle is expected to be good enough to play-on next week against No. 7 Narbonne, which beat Palos Verde Friday 34-15.

No. 4 Mission Viejo got ready for next week’s showdown with No. 5 Long Beach Poly by beating La Habra 42-27.  Akilli Arnold ran for 152 yards while subbing for injured junior running back Jamari Ferrell.  Arnold scored three touchdowns.

No. 9 Serra (Gardena) picked-up its first win of the season with a 44-7 win over Dorsey.

No. 11 JSerra moved to 3-0 with a 59-35 win over No. 24 Bishop Amat.  The Lions ran-out to a 31-0 led, but saw that shrink to ten in the fourth quarter.  Lion QB Matt Robinson threw for 304 yards and five touchdowns.

No. 12 Valencia (Valencia) pounded Arizona’s Chaparral 56-14.  Running back Moises Haynes rushed for 197 yards on only 16 carries with two touchdowns.

Brendan Costello threw three touchdown passes to lead No. 14 San Clemente to a 45-7 win over Fullerton.

No. 15 Servite beat No. 21 Roosevelt (Eastvale) 54-24 to improve to 3-0.  Friar QB TJ McMahon ran for three scores and passes for two others.

No. 16 Heritage is now 3-0 after beating Corona 56-7.

Junior quarterback Ryan Hilinski completed 29-of-42 passes for 505 yards and four TD’s in No. 17 Orange Lutheran’s 40-20 win over Vista Murrieta.

No. 20 Oaks Christian beat its second straight Top 25 team Friday night.  The Lions, who opened with a loss to Chaminade, beat No. 18 Paraclete 30-21.  Running back Zach Charbonnet ran for 192 yards and three touchdowns.

No. 19 Upland beat Redlands East Valley 47-26.

No. 22 Edison rebounded from its loss last week to Oaks Christian to beat Anaheim Canyon 38-0. The Chargers were without senior quarterback Griffin O’Connor, who was out with an injury.

Burroughs (Ridgecrest) shocked No. 23 Rancho Verde 33-19.

And, Murrieta Valley won its second straight with Hank Bachmeier, who completed 19-of-25 passes for 246 yards and four touchdowns. Bachmeier’s counterpart Jayden Daniels was 28-of-36 for 520 yards and six TD’s.
