Bartlett outscores No. 2 Chugiak in Division I semis

Bartlett, No. 4 in the High School Football America Alaska Top 5, outscored No. 2 Chugiak (9-1) 75-62 Friday night to advance to the Division I state championship against West next week.

Bartlett (7-3) running back Jontay Edward ran for 402 yards and seven touchdowns in the win. The Golden Bears rushed for 672 yards as a team.

Chugiak running back Derryk Snell scored five touchdowns, giving him 38 for the season, which is six behind the state record of 44 held by Perry Monzulla of North Pole in 2004.

Bartlett’s last state title came in 2009.
