The Big 33 Football Classic will have a new location for the 2022 game. Game officials have announced that the 65th annual game known as the “Super Bowl of High School Football” will be played at Bishop McDevitt’s Rocco Ortenzio Stadium on Memorial Day.
There’s never been a Super Bowl played without a Big 33 alum.
“Bishop McDevitt High School is honored to share our first-class facilities and Rocco Ortenzio Stadium with such a prestigious event and organization,” said Bishop McDevitt president, Dr. David Gardiner, in a news release.
“We are humbled to host this year’s Big 33 Summer Classic and wish the football teams, cheerleaders, families and guests a great experience.”
In 2017, the Pennsylvania State Football Coaches Association, which runs the event, moved the all-star game from its HersheyPark Stadium, it’s original home, to Landis Field at Central Dauphin Middle School in Harrisburg.
In addition to the Big 33, the PSFCA plays its annual Big School and Small School East-West All-Star games the day before on May 29.
Pennsylvania has won the last two games against all-stars from Maryland. The Keystone State squad won last year’s game 20-0.
