As we always say, preseason rankings are fun, but they don’t mean anything until the teams hit the field and High School Football America’s proprietary algorithm takes over analyzing what is happening on the field.
Four of the teams in the Preseson High School Football America Iowa Top 10 tasted defeated in Week 1 of the season, which shakes-up our first in-season statewide ranking.
The top four teams all opened with victories, but after that, the Top 10 looks very different this week with three new teams entering the rankings.
Southeast Polk breaks into the Top 10 after knocking-off preseason No. 9 Waukee 21-10. Cedar Rapids Xavier debuts in the state rankings at No. 8 after beating defending 3A champ Western Dubuque 38-21, which tumbles from No. 7 to No. 10, The third new team is Iowa City West at No. 9
