As we head into the second half of the 2020 Georgia high school football season, we know one thing for sure — nothing is for sure at this point.

For the second week in a row, North Gwinnett suffered a loss, which is one of the main reason for this week’s shake-up in the High School Football America Georgia Top 25. The Bulldogs dropped a 14-13 decision to previously winless Archer, knocking NG from No. 6 to No. 19. It also brings 1-3 Archer into the Top 25 at No. 18. Archer’s losses have come against No. 1 Lowndes, No. 2 Grayson and No. 9 Warner Robins.

North Gwinnett will try to turn things around when it plays No. 13 North Cobb.

Cedar Grove is the biggest mover inside the rankings this week. Defending 3A champ Cedar Grove, which finally got to play a game this week, moves from No. 16 to No. 8 with its 14-7 win over former No. 4 Milton.

Hillgrove makes its first appearance in the statewide rankings created with our proprietary algorithm. The Hawks are No. 17 this week after a 42-21 defeat of former No. 17 Westlake. The game was put together quickly after Westlake’s game against Harrison was canceled over COVID-19 concerns.

Cherokee enters the Top 25 for the first-time ever after beating former No. 19 Cartersville, which snapped the Purple Hurricanes’ record 62-game regular season win streak. The Warriors are ranked No. 22 this week, while Cartersville falls to No. 24.

Taking a look ahead, top-ranked Lowndes will square-off with No. 7 Valdosta in the 59th edition of the Winnersville Classic in south Georgia. Lowndes won last year’s game giving the Vikings 12 wins in the last 16 games. Valdosta leads the all-time series 37-21.

No. 2 Grayson will come-off a bye week with a game against No. 21 Mill Creek.

The fourth head-to-head Top 25 matchup has No. 9 Warner Robins traveling to No. 15 Lee County.
