Week 1 of the 2023 Florida high school football regular season delivered a lot of surprise outcomes. That means there are lots of changes in the first in-season High School Football America Florida Top 25 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
Unranked Armwood’s 34-25 upset of preseason No. 8 Venice brings the Hawks into the statewide rankings at No. 12. Venice, which trailed 27-0, at one point, tumbles to No. 13.
Norland makes a big move from No. 24 to No. 15. The Vikings jump comes after its 48-34 win over reigning Class 4S state champ Lakeland, which falls from No. 9 to No. 19.
Vero Beach busts into the statewide rankings, created with our proprietary algorithm, at No. 17 after beating preseason No. 13 Miami Northwestern. The Bulls fall to No. 18 after losing 19-13 to the Indians.
The top three teams held their spots, but Chaminade-Madonna moves from No. 5 to No. 4 after beating national-power St. Frances Academy from Maryland on national television. This week, the Lions will battle No. 7 Cardinal Gibbons in a battle of defending state champs.
No. 3 Miami Central opens the regular season with a big national battle. The Rockets, ranked No. 9 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, travels to Las Vegas to take-on No. 3 Bishop Gorman.
