This weekend’s Class 5A state quarterfinals will feature two head-to-head matchups in the High School Football America Iowa Top 10 powered by NFL Play Football.
Leading the way with be Southeast Polk facing No. 4 Dowling Catholic, winners of seven state championships in the last eight years. SEP is currently ranked No. 1 in our statewide rankings created with our proprietary algorithm.
The winner of the Southeast Polk/Dowling Catholic game will face the winner of the quarterfinal matchup between No. 2 Iowa City and No. 6 Cedar Rapids Kennedy.
The big shock to the latest rankings was the first round loss by previously unbeaten and defending 3A champ North Scott, ranked No. 8 in last week’s Top 10. Decorah beat the Lancers 14-10.
With North Scott dropping-out of the statewide rankings, Lewis Central moves-in at No. 9.
Urbandale, which lost its playoff opener to No. 2 Iowa City, tumbles from No. 6 to No. 10.
