Seven is said to be a lucky number. Friday night, Bixby needed a little luck to win the school’s seventh straight Oklahoma high school football championship.

After trailing Owasso, ranked No. 103 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, the Spartans, ranked No. 230 in the nation, fought back to tie the game 21-all at the half.

After the two finished regulation tied at 35-35, Owasso got the ball first in overtime. The Rams scored to take a 42-35 lead.

After Bixby scored to make it 42-41, the Spartans decided to roll the dice and go for two. Cooper Parker’s 2-point conversion run closed-out an instant classic.

The win avenged Owasso’s 40-21 win over Bixby in the season opener for both teams.
