Boise State’s famed blue turf will welcome six Idaho high school football teams September 1st in a triple-header billed as the Battle in Boise. The event will feature one 8-man game and two 11-man matchups.

The three games will mark the first time in over a decade that Albertsons Stadium (formerly Bronco Stadium) will host regular season high school football games. The Boise School District used to play on the blue turf until its games were moved to Dona Larson Park, also owned by Boise State, in 2012. Select state championship games have been played at Albertsons over the last five years, including last year’s 5A championship game between Rigby and Meridian.

The night will start with a battle of 8-man powers Oakley and two-time reigning 1A Division I champKendrick. Oakley won last year’s 1A Division I crown.

Emmett and Fruitland will play in the second game.

The finale will feature Burley and Vallivue. Burley is led by 4-star wide receiver Catlin Bair, who currently has 27 scholarship offers, according to 247Sports.

Last month, Bair won gold medals in the 100- and 200-meter events in the state’s 4A Track and Field championships. During the spring season, he was consistently running times that put in him the top five in the nation.

In the state championship preliminaries, he tied his state record of 10.15-seconds in the 100.

Bair is also excellent in the classroom, he is a member of our 2022 Academic All-America team.
