Brooks County beat two-time defending state champ Irwin County 56-28 Thursday night at Center Parc Stadium for the 2021 Georgia Class 1A Public high school football state championship.

Omari Arnold had a huge game with 320 yards rushing with five touchdowns. If Arnold’s rushing total is verified, it will break Herschel Walker state finals record of 318-yards in 1979. His five touchdowns ties the state final record set by Creekside’s Dexter Knox in 2013.

The state championship is the first for Brooks County since 1994.
