Bryant remains No. 1 in the first in-season High School Football America Arkansas Top 10

Bryant continues as Arkansas’ top high school football team after opening the regular season with a 48-7 victory over No. 6 Benton in Salt Bowl XXI. The two-time defending 7A state champs have now won 18 in a row and lead the Salt Bowl 18-1-2.

The game, which normally draws 30,000-plus to Arkansas’ War Memorial Stadium, had a much smaller than usual crowd of 12,000 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Benton was one of three teams in the Preseason High School Football America Arkansas Top 10 to lose during the opening weekend of action…but all remain in the statewide rankings Benton falls to No. 10 this week.

Former No. 4 Bentonville West lost its opener on-the-road to Oklahoma-power Broken. The Wolverines drop to No. 6.

Conway’s 38-21 in over Preseason No. 7 Fayetteville moves the Panthers up four spots to No. 5 this week. Fayetteville drops a spot to No. 8
