Thursday night, Canton City Schools voted unanimously to fire McKinley head football coach Marcus Wattley and six assistant coaches after being accused of forcing a Hebrew Israelite player to eat pork after reportedly missing a weightlifting session. Eating pork is against the student-athlete’s religious beliefs.

According to media reports, Canton police will be investigating the incident as a hazing.

In addition to firing Wattley, the school board hired Athletic Director Antonio Hall as the school’s interim head coach for the 2021 season.
