Carey captures first Ohio high school football championship since 1975

Carey beat Coldwater 26-14 to win its first Ohio high school football championship since the mid-70’s.

Carey won the Division VI title by dominating the game with a run game that ate-up big chunks of clock. The Blue Devils ran the ball 64 times, which led to them controlling the football for 34 minutes, 34 seconds.

Jordan Vallejo had 25 carries for 95 yards. He scored two touchdowns and had a pair of two-point conversions.

Quarterback Derek Lonsway ran for 81 yards and a touchdown on 21 rushes.

As a team, Carey had 243 yards on the ground.
