Carthage beat La Vega 42-28 in the Class 4A Division I championship game to capture the school’s seventh overall Texas high school football title. Head coach Scott Surratt has led the Bulldogs to every one of them, which puts him two behind all-time leader Gordon Wood, who owns nine, and G.A. Moore, who has eight.

Carthage, which entered the title game ranked No. 21 in our High School Football America Texas Top 25 at No. 21, finishes a perfect 16-0.
