For the fourth time in five years, Cedar Grove is a Georgia high school football champ. Saturday, the Saints beat Atlanta Carver 56-26 for the state’s 3A state championship.
The game was close with Cedar Grove leading 21-14 with 8:06 to play in the 3rd quarter. That’s when the game was delayed for an hour due to a thunderstorm. Once the teams returned to Center Parc Stadium at Georgia State, the Saints outscored Carver, playing in its first state title game since 1967, 35-12.
