For the first time since 2011, Charleston is a Mississippi high school football state champ. The Tigers beat Heidelberg 26-22 Friday to claim the 2023 MHSAA Class 2A State Championship Friday night at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on the campus of the University of Mississippi.

The win snapped Charleston’s run of five straight losses in championship game appearances.
