Terry Maxwell
On Aug. 25, Head Coach Terry Maxwell guided his team, the Seneca Fighting Irish (1-0),
to a victorious season opener, securing a 27-21 home non-conference win against the
powerhouse Wilmington Wildcats (0-1) on Friday night. This victory for the Fighting Irish

University, has taken over the Seneca Fighting Irish football team after the departure of
former coach Ted ‘Boyle in Spring of 2021. Known for his commitment and leadership,
Maxwell coaches football and track while also teaching biology. He oversees the school’s
Conservation in Action (CIA) club, guiding students in projects that include planting
pollinator gardens and advocating for environmental awareness. The Fighting Irish are
scheduled to play against the Lisle Lions (1-0) on Friday night, Sep. 1st.

Ethan Plumb
On Aug. 25, the junior quarterback, Ethan Plumb, led the St. Charles North Stars (1-0) to a tight 37-34 home non-conference victory against the Palatine Pirates (0-1) on Friday night. Despite trailing 34-30 with just over two minutes remaining, Plumb orchestrated a 69-yard drive that concluded with a 13-yard touchdown pass. Plumb’s standout performance involved completing 34 of 45 passes for 332 yards and three touchdowns, along with 4 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. According to a panel of
sportswriters from Sports Illustrated (SI), St. Charles is currently ranked 23rd overall in the SBLive Illinois Power 25 high school football rankings heading into the season. The North Stars are set to face the Crete-Monee Warriors (0-1) on Friday night, Sept. 1st.
