Two years after finishing a perfect 9-0 regular season and advancing to the first round of Illinois 7A playoffs, Whitney Young (Chicago) is cancelling the rest of the 2017 season due to a lack of players.
The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that the school’s principal Dr. Joyce Kenner made the announcement late Monday afternoon. The Dolphins currently only had 19 active players, according to the Sun Times. The Chicago Public Schools mandate that a team must have 22 active players.
Whitney Young forfeited its game against Goode on September 8 and lost its other four games by a combined score of 229-0.
