Class of ’22 & ’23 Top Florida high school football players

It shouldn’t came as a surprise to anyone that there is a ton of high school football talent in Florida. And, it shouldn’t shock anyone that defending national champ IMG Academy is once again loaded with talent, but most of it comes from outside of the Sunshine State.

IMG, which is ranked No. 5 in the Preseason 2021 High School Football America 100 powered by NFL Play Football, the NFL’s initiative to provide fun and engaging experience for players of all ages and skill levels, has 13 players in the Top 100 of the 247Sports.com Composite Rankings for the Class of 2022.

The Ascenders’ top-ranked recruit is safety Kamari Wilson is one of the few Floridians on the team’s roster. Wilson is expected to give his verbal to the Georgia Bulldogs in the very near future. He is a five-star recruit ranked No. 4 in the state. Wilson transferred to IMG from Fort Pierce Westwood.

IMG also has the No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2023. Offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa is a 5-star prospect with 21 college scholarship offers.

In all, IMG has four of the Top 10 juniors-to-be.

Starting the season one spot in-front of IMG in the national rankings is defending 7A state champ St. Thomas Aquinas. The No. 4 ranked Raiders will be lead by quarterback Zion Turner, who is ranked as the No. 73 prospect in the state.

Turner, who has 12 college scholarship offers, will be looking to lead his school to a third straight state championship.

Running back Anthony Hankerson will also be looking for a third ring. The 3-star back ran for 1,178 yards, according to MaxPreps, in just nine games last year. He scored 14 rushing touchdowns. He also caught four passes, two for touchdowns.

Offensive tackle Julian Armella is the Raiders top-ranked recruit at No. 16.

Preseason No. 18 American Heritage from Plantation and No. 22 Miami Central are also well stocked with talent.

Central has six players in the Top 100, led by uncommitted linebacker Wesley Bissainthe at No. 20.

AH has four players in the Top 100 with defensive lineman Marvin Jones, Jr. the highest ranked at No. 7.

The state’s No. 1 overall recruit in the composite rankings is defensive lineman Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy of Lakeland. Brownlow-Dindy is being pursued by all of the top college teams. The 5-star recruit currently has 23 offers.
