Connecticut delays the start of high school football

Connecticut is the 25th state push back the start of the 2020 high school football season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

On Friday, the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference announced details for practice and the start of regular season games. The first practice for teams with 15 players at a time will start August 17 with full squad practices starting September 11.

The CIAC said a six-game regular season will start on September 24 with a shortened postseason that will end by mid-November. All of the state’s traditional Thanksgiving Day rivalry games will not be played.

As far as fans in the stands, the CIAC is leaving that decision up to the individual school districts.
