Utah will be the first state to kick-off high school football in America during the coronavirus pandemic this weekend. To celebrate the start of the 2020 season, we present our first preseason state ranking.
The Utah Top 10 is created using High School Football America’s proprietary algorithm. Two-time defending state champ Corner Canyon starts the season ranked No. 1 in our Preseason Utah Top 10.
The Chargers, who won the 6A title last year and the 5A championship in 2018, return a ton of talent, including eight offensive starters coming back from last year’s perfect season. In 2019, the Chargers finished No. 22 in the High School Football America 100 national rankings and were the No. 1 team in our statewide rankings.
Falling in behind Corner Canyon is Bingham at No. 2. The Miners will be led by Dave Peck, who returns as the program’s head coach. During a 15-year stint until 2015, Peck led Bingham to a record of 154-37. He led the school to five state championships.
Two-time 6A runner-up American Fork checks-in at No. 3, followed by three-time state champ Orem at No. 4 and Lone Peak at No. 5
