With Utah-recruit Isaac Wilson at the helm, Corner Canyon starts the season as the top team in the High School Football America Utah Top 10, powered by NFL Play Football. Last year, Wilson, the brother of New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson led the program to a runner-up finish in the state’s largest classification.
Wilson and the Chargers will find out how good they are on August 25 when they host Bishop Gorman, ranked No. 4 in our national preseason rankings. Last year, in Las Vegas, CC lost to the national power 42-7.
This year, Corner Canyon is ranked No. 74 in our Preseason 300.
Head coach Eric Kjar, who has led Corner Canyon to two straight runner-up finishes after three straight state championships, will have to prepare his team for a new region this year. The Chargers will be in Region 2, which includes No. 2 Bingham, along with Copper Hills, Herriman, Mountain Ridge and Riverton.
CC’s regular season schedule will still include No. 5 Lone Peak, from its old region. In all, the Chargers will face three in-state opponents that begin the year in our Preseason Top 10.
Defending state champ Skyridge is ranked No. 3 to start the season. The Falcons won the school’s first-ever title last season.
