At the start of the year, many people raised their eyebrows when they saw that perennial power Corona Centennial wasn’t ranked in the Top 200 of our preseason national rankings. To those that asked, we explained that our algorithm saw the Huskies possibly starting the season 0-3 against a loaded schedule that included No. 1 Mater Dei, No. 60 Sierra Canyon and No. 107 Cathedral Catholic.

After the Mater Dei game was cancelled due to the CC COVID-19 protocols, head coach Matt Logan set his program’s focus on Cathedral Catholic. In 2019, the Dons shocked the Huskies 44-41.

Friday night, Logan and the Huskies got their revenge with a 57-14 thrashing of CC, which launches Centennial eleven spots to No. 6 in the latest High School Football America California Top 25 powered by NFL Play Football.

Corona Centennial also jumped to No. 102 in our national rankings. Up next will be Sierra Canyon, which moved-up to No. 46 nationally this week.
