The Deseret News always does a great job with its Utah high school football coverage. To get everyone ready for the season, the newspaper has released its preseason coaches rankings.

Defending two-time state champ Bingham begins the season ranked #1 in Class 5A.  The Miners have been ranked #13 in MaxPreps’ Early Contenders Top 25.

John Lambourne, who began coaching at Bingham in 2000, takes over for Dave Peck, who retired at the end of the season.  In addition to taking over the reigns of the program, Lambourne will continue as the team’s offensive coordinator.

Three other 2014 state champs begin the season ranked #1 — Timpview (4A), South Summit (2A) and Rich (1A).
