Detroit Prep Kickoff Classic announces 2022 games

The line-up is set for the 17th annual Xenith Prep Kickoff Classic at Wayne State University in Detroit. The Detroit Sports Commission announced the five game card last week.

Defending Division I champ Belleville is on the schedule, along with 2020 Division I champ West Bloomfield.

Belleville will play Novi Friday night, August 26 at 7 P.M. The Tigers, who finished No. 149 in the High School Football America national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, are led by quarterback Bryce Underwood. The sophomore-to-be already holds college scholarship offers from Kentucky, Marshall, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Tennessee, according to 247Sports.

Underwood threw for nearly 2,900 yards with 39 touchdowns as a sophomore. He only threw four interceptions.

West Bloomfield’s top players are 3-star wide receiver Semaj Morgan and 3-star offensive lineman Amir Herring, who rated the No. 3 overall college football recruit in the state in the 247 composite rankings. Morgan has already given his verbal to the University of Michigan.

West Bloomfield will play Sterling Heights Stevenson on Thursday night, August 25 at 7 P.M. Last year, West Bloomfield finished No. 5 in the High School Football America Michigan Top 10. The Lakers were 10-2 last year with both losses coming against Adams, the Division I state runner-up.

On Saturday, Dexter will face Grosse Pointe South. Dexter is led by Michigan-recruit Cole Cabana (running back) and Michigan State-recruit Brennan Parachek (tight end).
