Dave Mika of EasternPAFootball.com is always coming-up with a new wrinkle for his great website.  Recently, for the Throwback Thursday craze, Dave has been posting throwback stories.  Today’s story is about the great Southern Columbia High School football program and the 2004 season with Henry Hynoski, who now plays in the NFL with the New York Giants.

The story focuses on how the ’04 team had to deal with the tragic death of two teammates while going after its third straight state title.

The Tigers have won six Pennsylvania championships in Class A, the state’s smallest classification.  Jim Roth, who is entering his 31st year as the head coach of the Tigers, owns a lifetime record of 354-61-2.  One of the biggest changes for 2014 is the Tigers move-up to Class 2A.  Watch the video above to get a preview of this year’s team, plus click here to read the story from writer Dave Fegley.
