Don Drake is the new head football coach at Ennis (Texas), replacing the legendary Sam Harrell, who retired due to health issues at the end of last season. Since 2019, Drake has served as the school district’s Athletic Director.
Prior to coming to Ennis, Drake was the head coach at McKinney Boyd.
Harrell, who was inducted to the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame in 2013, retired with a lifetime 241-87 record. He led Ennis to three state championships.
