Ensworth and Riverdale enter Tennessee Top 10 high school football rankings

The top six teams in the first in-season High School Football America Tennessee Top 10, powered by NFL Play Football, hold their preseason spots after picking-up wins last weekend. No. 7 Summit and No. 10 Powell, the state’s defending 5A champ, lost their season openers and drop-out of the latest statewide rankings.

Entering the Top 10 are Ensworth and Riverdale at No. 8 and No. 9 respectively.

No. 1 Lipscomb Academy and No. 2 Oakland have big out-of-state games this week.

LA, coming-off a 17-7 win over No. 65 Milton in last week’s Freedom Bowl in Atlanta, travels to three-time Alabama 7A champ Thompson. The Mustangs started the season ranked No. 29 in the High School Football America 100 preseason national rankings. Thompson, which lost last week to No. 3 Buford, will probably from their preseason No. 17 when the first in-season national rankings come-out Sunday.

Two-time 6A champ Oakland opened with a 42-0 win over Hendersonville. This week, the Patriots, ranked No. 39 in our preseason rankings, will host Madison-Ridgeland Academy from Mississippi.

MRA is 2-0 and ranked No. 143 in our Preseason 300.
