The Fiesta Bowl Organization is elevating youth and scholastic football in the state of Arizona by kicking off its new Fiesta Bowl Friday Night Showdown presented by Super Star Car Wash strategic initiative on Friday, August 25. The program will feature on-site fan events, experiences and engagement, in addition to student-athlete and student-section highlights and recognition across non-linear and social media platforms.

The 10-game schedule begins with a blockbuster season-opening matchup Friday, August 25, when Hamilton High School visits Liberty High School. The two were among the eight schools that competed in the 2022 AIA Open State Championship bracket. Defending Open champion Saguaro will host the featured game on September 1 and five of the eight schools that were in the Open Division are among the fall schedule determined by the Arizona Interscholastic Association (“AIA”).

“The Fiesta Bowl has been associated with the highest levels of exciting college football including its student-athletes, coaches and teams for more than 50 years,” said Fiesta Bowl Executive Director & CEO Erik Moses. “Many of those collegiate student-athletes came from our great state. One of our goals is to help elevate and celebrate our Arizona high school student-athletes, coaches and teams with innovative and grassroots programs. We are thrilled to kick off Fiesta Bowl Friday Night Showdown presented by Super Star Car Wash and support and engage our high school football communities every Friday night this season.”

The Fiesta Bowl Friday Night Showdown presented by Super Star Car Wash starts on August 25 and runs through November 3, with weekly Friday night matchups across the Valley of the Sun. The full schedule can be found below or by clicking here.

“The AIA is proud to support arguably the premier community football organization in the state of Arizona in the Fiesta Bowl, to shine a spotlight on Arizona high school football,” said Dr. Jim Dean, AIA Associate Executive Director and former Superintendent. “With the Fiesta Bowl’s backing and support, Friday nights will mean even more to the thousands of student-athletes and their communities on a weekly basis. The Friday Night Showdown will heighten the attention for high school football like never before.”

At each site, fans will enjoy engaging activities: including showing school spirit to become the Student Section of the Game, voting for the Fiesta Bowl Super Star of the Game, on-site games and social media shoots and more. Each week’s Student Section of the Game winner will qualify for an end-of-season vote to determine the Student Section of the Year and be the first winner of the “Spirit Cup.”

“We are thrilled to partner with the Fiesta Bowl in presenting the Friday Night Showdown,” said Jonathan Kierman, Executive Vice President of Super Star Car Wash. “The Fiesta Bowl’s history of being actively involved in the Arizona community aligns perfectly with Super Star Car Wash and our mission of being woven into the fabric of the communities in which we serve.”

Fiesta Bowl Friday Night Showdown presented by Super Star Car Wash is the latest community outreach initiative from the Fiesta Bowl Organization, which is known for delivering positive community impact through the sport of football and through charitable support in the areas of youth, sports and education.
