It’s been a week since life changed forever for Kelly Hewins Alkhatib, mother of Jack Alkhatib, an offensive lineman on the nationally-ranked Dutch Fork (South Carolina) football team, who passed away on the practice field. Since that day, I’ve watched a mother’s love and strength for her son on full-display on her Twitter account.

I thought our readers would enjoy seeing Kelly’s tweets. However, before I post those tweets, I want to honor Jack by making him a member of the 2020 High School Football America All-America Team. When I noticed that Jack’s GPA was 3.8, which was above our threshold for Academic All-American, I wanted to make him a part of the team.

Our inaugural team, that was released earlier this month, was developed in a variety ways with information that was given to High School Football America and our partners at scoutSMART®.

As you can see from the above graphic, the 5-time defending state champs will thinking about Jack and his family during Friday’s big game against state-ranked Byrnes.

RIP, Jack.
