There are no changes in the first in-season High School Football America Kentucky Top 10, powered by NFL Play Football, even though No. 7 Owensboro and No. 10 Covington Catholic both lost their season openers. Both lost to teams in our Top 300 national rankings.

No. 2 and defending 6A champ St. Xavier beat Owensboro 28-14. St. X was ranked No. 161 in the Preseason HSFA 300.

Covington Catholic lost to Ohio’s Elder 42-21. Elder entered the game ranked No. 247 in America.

No. 3 Trinity opened with a 17-7 win over No. 121 Carmel (Indiana). The Shamrocks, who always play one of the toughest schedules in the national, travel this week to Archbishop Moeller (Ohio), ranked No. 28 in the nation.

Top-ranked Male will try to move to 2-0 when it faces No. 9 Ballard Friday night.
