Florida high school football players, coaches and fans are smiling after an appearance by Governor Ron DeSantis on Outkick the Coverage with Clay Travis. On Friday’s show, DeSantis said the following about whether there will be a 2020 high school football season in the Sunshine State:

“This is so important for our kids, particularly those that are going to be seniors. They need to be playing. I’m convinced it’ll be something that is safe to do. We should absolutely assume a full high school football season.”

With DeSantis being bullish on the 2020 season, it will be interesting to see how the Florida High School Athletic Association reacts to the governor’s comments.

Also on the show, DeSantis talked about the amount of blue chip talent in the state saying, “Last year, I signed a letter of congratulations to every blue chip recruit that came out of high school in the State of Florida.”
