Hawthorne will go for a three-peat in Florida’s Rural Class. Saturday, the Hornets face Madison County at The Range at H.G Morse Stadium at The Villages for the championship in the state’s smallest classification.

While these two are considered small schools, both play schedules against bigger opponents.

Hawthorne brings an 10-1 record into the contest, which includes a win over Oakleaf, currently ranked No. 199 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. Their only loss was against No. 279 Florida St. University High School.

Despite its smaller size, below 500 students, Madison County actually is ranked No. 310 in our national rankings with a 9-3 record. Their losses are against No. 232 Lincoln (Tallahassee), Florida St. University HS and No. 296 Pace. The Cowboys own wins against two 7A opponents, Apopka and DeLand; Lake Minneola (6A); Columbia-Lake City (4A) and two 3A opponents Bay and Suwannee.
