The University Interscholastic League, the governing body of Texas high school football, is looking into “an incident involving a sports official and a student athlete during the Whitney vs. Dallas Madison varsity football game” played Friday night. The investigation surrounds an official ripping-off a linebacker’s helmet during an attempted pass play.

Here’s what happened…

A video (below) was posted on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, by Karla Haynes showing her son Trey Haynes, a Whitney linebacker, accidentally running into the umpire in the middle of the field. Haynes tried to spin away from the official, at which time, the official uses both hands to remove the player’s helmet. The official then threw a flag against Haynes while holding the player’s helmet. Trey Haynes was then ejected by the official.

Karla is also the wife of Whitney head coach David Haynes.

Whitney went on to win the game 56-28.
