The road back to Dreher had many twists and turns for Jenkins, who started his professional career in baseball. He was the 24th overall selection in the 1995 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. He signed with the Boston Red Sox and played four years in the minors. He rose to Double-A baseball, before deciding to return to football.
After playing two-years of JUCO football, Jenkins returned home to play for the South Carolina Gamecocks under Lou Holtz. With the Gamecocks, Jenkins played quarterback, running back, safety and linebacker.
Jenkins played two years with the Dolphins before closing out his NFL career with the Chicago Bears in 2004.
Over the last two seasons, Jenkins was the defensive coordinator at Cardinal Newman in Columbia.
