Former NFL RB Daniel Thomas returns to his alma mater as head football coach

Hilliard High School is hoping a familiar face will take its football program to the next level. The Flashes have hired former NFL running back Daniel Thomas, who is a 2006 graduate of the school.

Thomas returns to his alma mater as the school’s first black head coach.

During his senior season, Thomas was named All-State on offense and defense. As Hilliard’s starting quarterback, he threw for 11 touchdowns and also ran for 11 scores.

Thomas was drafted in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. During his pro career, Thomas ran for 1,480 yards with ten touchdowns.
